Why the property market in Maitland and surrounds is rapidly changing

Maitland, also known as the center of the "industrial wheel", is located north of Pinelands and south of Brooklyn.

Its unique location provides close proximity to major transportation networks such as the Cape Town Harbour, Cape Town International Airport, two national highways, as well as the regional rail line (Metrorail) that runs through the suburb.

In fact, Maitland has always been an important transportation hub for the city since 1845, when one of the very first roads connecting Stellenbosch to Maitland was built. This allowed vehicles to travel from Cape Town to the rest of Africa without having to cross the sand dunes that characterized the Cape Plains at the time. Maitland then helped to expand the economic potential of the city beyond its own borders at the time, and still today.

Maitland's easy access to Cape Town and other industrial areas has made it a major industrial center with a variety of businesses in sectors such as engineering, media, printing and business development services. Any business that relies on roads, rails or air can easily and effectively expand its business in this area, with two train stations and Cape Town International Airport just minutes away.

Quay 1 International Realty has noticed a significant increase in demand for the area in recent years given its steady decline in crime as well as the construction of several multi-use residential developments. Maitland, as well as the surrounding residential areas, hold exciting potential and as a result many people are choosing to move out of traditional affordable residential hubs such as the Zonnebloem and Belville, and seeing these areas as attractive options to live.
