SFB Association: Adding value to the Atlantic Seaboard property market and its people

Several civic organisations have been formed in recent years in order to improve the living conditions of Cape Town residents. Among them, the Sea Point, Fresnaye and Bantry Bay Residents and Ratepayers Association (more commonly known as SFB) stands out. The association already has several ongoing community projects which have been recognised for their positive social impact.

SFB is a volunteer organisation, supported by the area's residents and taxpayers. It works with the Atlantic Seaboard community - specifically the Sea Point, Fresnaye and Bantry Bay areas - and rests on four primary pillars, namely: Cleaning, development, reducing homelessness and increasing safety.

In relation to cleaning, Project Hope has 12 teams responsible for cleaning the beaches, the promenade and side streets, with the aim of covering the full SFB area at some stage in the future.

As far as development is concerned, SFB also enables all residents within the region to be informed and assisted by its committee of professionals. It ranges from general consultation and assistance aimed at developers and/or property owners, assisting with building applications for departures and other specific requests, such as title deed amendments. The Heritage Project, which endeavours to protect the architectural heritage by identifying and registering sites in the SFB area, serves as a crucial component. Environmental issues also come into focus where it directly impacts this particular part of the coast.

When dealing with homelessness, Project Hope is a vital cog in the SFB wheel and is its "eyes and ears on the ground, on the beach front, and side roads for now, but the whole SFB area in future."

In terms of safety, the association continues to improve safety levels by working in tandem with the relevant local authorities, such as, City Council, SAPS and Law Enforcement service providers. It should also be noted that, "The SFB has committed to making sure that the range for the Buzzer extends across the entire SFB area." Residents can have peace of mind knowing that Avenue Response will swiftly respond to any emergency within Sea Point, Fresnaye, Bantry Bay and the surrounding beaches and mountains.

Ryan Greeff, CEO of Quay 1 International Realty, is in support of the work the association does and sees value in sponsoring the SFB. Commenting on the decision to come on board, Ryan Greeff said, "We are excited to be a proud sponsor of the organisation and encourage all relevant stakeholders to support the SFB and its effective initiatives which are having a positive impact on the area and its people."

The association, which is not-for-profit, is fully committed to the cause of improving your environment at large. However, with paid-up members providing the financial backbone of the association - in order to continue to build a vibrant, safe and change-driven community for all - your assistance is needed to drive and support the ongoing community-centric projects within your area.

Please consider making a donation and/or joining the SCI project. It's about being an active participant in the improvement of your neighbourhood and partaking in the change you want to see.
