As many of you may know by now, on 18 September 2025, a devastating fire broke out at TEARS Animal Rescue in Sunnydale, destroying several wooden kennels and fencing. Thankfully, due to the quick response of staff and emergency services, no animals or humans were harmed. Still, the physical destruction is extensive, and TEARS now faces the enormous task of rebuilding critical infrastructure.

TEARS functions almost entirely through donation and volunteer support. In the wake of this fire, their immediate needs are both structural and material. They plan to rebuild using more fire-resistant materials to reduce the risk of future disasters. To this end, they are urgently requesting donations of cement, lumber, cement blocks, vibacrete, sand, stone, as well as dog kennels, dog beds, blankets, and other related supplies. Of course, monetary donations are also greatly appreciated, as these can be deployed flexibly in areas of greatest need.

If you are able to contribute, whether with supplies, funding, or by spreading the word, your support will make a real difference! Contact TEARS on 021 785 4482 or tears@tears.org.za.
